Our Work

Research and Scientific Work

Karakalpakstan Medical Institute continues to strengthen its role in medical education through active scientific work, academic publications, and research-based learning. Along with classroom and clinical training, the Institute supports a culture where students, teachers, and researchers contribute to the wider development of healthcare knowledge in the region.

Over the years, KMI has published more than 30 monographs, textbooks, and manuals, showing its contribution to academic resources and medical learning material. These publications help support structured education while encouraging deeper subject understanding across different areas of medical study.

The Institute has also built a strong research presence through more than 1,500 scientific articles, including 500 articles published in foreign journals. This reflects KMI’s growing participation in academic discussions beyond Uzbekistan and its continued focus on sharing scientific knowledge with wider professional communities.

KMI has completed 3 international projects and 3 applied projects, while also participating in 3 international and 5 Republican scientific and practical conferences. These activities show the Institute’s involvement in research collaboration, professional exchange, and applied medical learning.

Another important academic milestone is the defence of 20 doctoral dissertations at the Institute. This highlights KMI’s commitment to higher-level research, academic development, and the preparation of qualified specialists who can contribute to medical science and public health.

Greetings, dear professors and teachers, dear students and esteemed colleagues! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate all of you on the greatest and most precious date in the life of our country – the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan!

Independence has given us, representatives of the medical sphere, the opportunity to strengthen the health of our people, develop scientific research, and convey modern medical knowledge and experience to young people. Today, the reforms in the healthcare system, achievements in the field of science, and the qualitative improvement of medical education are the result of our independence.

The conditions created in recent years in medical institutes, the opening of modern clinics and new laboratories are paving the way for the upbringing of the younger generation as qualified doctors and scientists.

Our institute continues to contribute to these noble goals by training knowledgeable, proactive, and dedicated young personnel.

The procedure of applying to the KMI

The procedure of applying to the Karakalpakstan medical institute

Foreign applicants applying to the Karakalpakstan Medical Institute must have electronic forms (soft copies) of documents listed below.

After submitting the documents, each applicant will be sent a notification of the acceptance of documents and an ID number to the email address indicated by the applicant.

List of required documents for applying to the Karakalpakstan Medical Institute:

  1. High School Certificate or Diploma or equivalent document of education. Notarized or apostilled translation into Russian with transcriptions;
  2. Copy of passport (pdf);
  3. Medical certificate (form 086 or general health certificate) (pdf);
  4. Medical certificate on the result of tests for the presence of antibodies to HIV (form 503) (pdf);
  5. Medical certificate of vaccination against COVID-19.

Applicants must submit the following list of documents on the day of the oral interview:

  1. Application addressed to the rector;
  2. Photo of the applicant measuring 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm – portrait, 6 pcs.;
  3. Envelope – 2 pcs.;
  4. Binder folder – 2 pcs.

The cost of paid-contract education at the Karakalpakstan Medical Institute for foreign students:

In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the education of foreign citizens at the Karakalpakstan Medical Institute is carried out on a paid-contract basis.
The amount of the contract for foreign citizens with a residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan is:

  • Undergraduate — 3500 USD
  • Master’s degree — 3500 USD

The amount of the contract for foreign citizens who do not have a residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan is:

  • Undergraduate — 3500 USD
  • Master’s degree — 3500 USD
